Extend: Design Your Extensions

Duration: 15-20 minutes

Purpose

In this final workshop segment, you will:

  • Reflect on what you’ve learned
  • Design extensions for YOUR teaching context
  • Share ideas with community

This is not coding, it’s design thinking and pedagogical reflection.

Activity Instructions

Think Individually (3-5 minutes)

Reflect on these questions:

  • What subject do you teach?
  • Which 3-5 concepts from your domain could work as personalized examples?
  • What’s ONE feature that would make this tool more useful for your students?
  • What’s one barrier you foresee to using this?

Write down your ideas.

Share and Discuss (10-15 minutes)

Option 1: Small Group Discussion

Form groups of 3-4 and discuss:

  • Your domain and which concepts might work
  • One practical challenge to using this tool
  • One idea for extending or improving it

Option 2: Gallery Walk

On sticky notes or paper, write:

  1. Your domain + 3-5 key concepts
  2. One feature you’d add
  3. One barrier you foresee

Post your notes on the wall, then walk around and place checkmarks next to ideas you find interesting.

Wrap-Up (5 minutes)

Final Reflections

Key questions:

  1. “Who will try using this type of tool with students?”
  2. “What’s your next step?”
  3. “What questions remain?”
